Attractions
Sussex is well known for its delightful country villages and market towns. Within a couple of miles of the Willows is a wealth of local country pubs, with at least four offering extremely good food.

Pethworth Park
Pethworth Park is one of the great achievements of 18th Century Landscaping, created by Capability Brown, and the subject of many paintings by Turner. Petworth House was completely remodelled in the 17th century in a distinctly French style. The house holds many great fine art examples, by English and European artists, along with 17th century limewood carvings, and a splendid 18th century Sculpture Gallery.
Parham House and Gardens
Parham House is set the heart of an ancient deer park, on the side of the South Downs. The house is Elizabethan, with large halls and galleries. These panelled rooms contain lovely pictures, furniture, and fine needlework.
Leonardslee Gardens
Near Lower Beeding this is a peacefull 240 acre valley, with walks around seven beautiful lakes. Home to the Loder family, this is one of the finest gardens in Europe.
Nymans Gardens
These gardens are the achievement of 100 years and four generations of the Messel family. The garden extends for 30 acres and contains many rare and beautiful trees, shrubs, and plants from all over the world. The garden is a delight through spring, summer, and autumn.
Chichester
Chichester is one of the finest English Cathedral cities. Its walls and plans date to the Roman era, and has excellent examples of 18th/19th century Georgian Architecture. Chichester cathedral is Norman with Gothic additions. It has two impressive stone reliefs, and some Roman mosaic flooring.
Brighton
A seaside town, with exquisite Regency architecture including the famous Brunswick Square. Brighton also has good restaurants and night life.
Guildford
An old Georgian town, offering good shopping, and lots of Georgian and Tudor Architecture. Guildford also has a castle, and an extremely impressive catheredal designed by Sir Edward Maufe in a simplified Gothic style.
Wakehurst Place
Wakehurst Place is managed by the Royal Botanic Gardens (Kew), and is a garden for all four seasons. The gardens extend for 180 acres and dates back to the 12th century. Exotic trees, and plants give all year colour, with many walks going through the woods and gardens of this estate.
Arundel Castle
Situated high on a hill, the castle is surrounded by magnificent grounds. The castle is 11th century, and holds a fine collection of furniture dating from the 16th century, clocks, tapestries, and portraits by well known artists including Van Dyck and Gainsborough.
